I'm really lost on my faith as a (former?) atheist.
So about a month ago, I had an experience where I just profoundly believed that there had to be a God. I felt something that I just couldn't explain via anything else, I mean I guess if I really go into it it could just be psychological, but it just felt so real. And it was so sudden, I was NEVER religious or anything and it felt like my heart did a complete 180. I was very confused but started looking into it more. I started reading the bible (I'm not very far in, starting off with the gospels), I was just planning to go to church for the first time on Sunday, I was looking up and researching all I could on Christianity, I had a whole plan to fool my parents and everything so that I could go (I'm 17). And more and more I felt myself starting to believe. I had my doubts but I was seriously starting to think that this is the path for me, and was looking forward to starting on this journey.
But suddenly, it just switched. Now I'm starting to think that maybe Christianity isn't the right thing for me. My current thought process is that beauty is in everything, we don't need God to explain everything or attach a meaning to things for them to be meaningful. I don't need God for my worldview to feel complete. And it's so strange because I was so convinced before but it feels like I did a 180 again, and now I'm not sure if I wanna go on that path.
This is so exhausting and confusing. I was so excited but now it's just... gone. It's not like I hate my atheist philosophy, I've had it for 17 years. But I was just about to embark on something new, and get something more, something fulfilling. Now I don't know if I need that. And I feel somewhat empty. I'm not sure what to do, because I can't just force myself to believe. I just want to be at peace, whatever that means.
