Expedite Advanced Parole request for academic reasons

Hi everyone,

I am in the process of applying for Adjustment of Status in the US however I am still studying in my home country and will need to go home to attend classes. I was hoping you could provide advice and share your experiences with expedited advanced parole for academic reasons. If this process is not successful it will become a case of traveling without the Advanced Parole and abandoning or forfeiting my AoS process as my degree obviously means more to me and the college has already said completing the course online is not an option.

I am currently on an L2 visa dependent on my father who is on an L1A visa. We have submitted the following forms: I-140, I-486, I-131, I-765. They were all submitted at the same time. I do not have a priority date but my father’s is 23 June 2025. Today (8/7/2025) I got letters of receipt for my I-140 and I-765. However my I-131 was rejected due to an address outside of the country. This does not make sense to anyone in my family as mine is the only I-131 that was rejected, but I will likely resubmit this form as it is crucial that I am able to get home for university.

I have looked into expediting this process so I can be home by the end of September preferably as this is when the academic year starts. Do you think it is possible that my request will be approved for academic reasons? I can prove my registration to my university and I have spoken to my lecturers and they have confirmed they have no problem proving my attendance and full time student status at the college. Should I include a specific date for a group presentation as the main reason for going home or will returning to complete my course be sufficient enough to meet the requirements. My only concern with that is the USCIS officer may feel there is no need to grant me any Adjustment of Status or Advanced Parole if I will be away from the US for long periods.

Please share any insights, advice, experience and good luck you may have. I am desperate and I stuck in such a difficult place with a family that wants nothing more than for me to get my AoS and are strongly against my leaving without AP.
