I’m afraid to go the grocery store. How can I overcome this fear?

I dated a guy with NPD for only 5 days back in 2022. Thankfully I was educated in the subject enough to understand the warning signs and run for the hills. He proceeded to stalk/harass me 5 months after we were dating. I did file a police report, but the most they said they could do is talk to him, and I told them to not proceed with that. Reason being is that he has a history of violence, and criminal record, and I wasn’t interested in escalating the situation.

Fast forward to a few days ago, I crossed paths with him at the grocery store. I was exiting to head to my car, and he was entering. He muttered under his breathe “gross” as he passed me. I got into my car, and 20 seconds later I could see him speed walking behind my car. Now I’m afraid to go to the grocery store. I shouldn’t have to waste gas driving to a completely different town just to buy my groceries. Wtf do I do.
