Work Advice

Discussion / Other

So I went to a trade school for a video production, but I honestly haven’t done to much in a few years, some wedding videos, real estate videos, small projects. Right now I’m working in live production. I work at a live venue doing video (routing up laptops, switching, video playback) and freelance for a handful of companies just doing stagehand work. While I do enjoy it. I’m still starting out (I’ve worked at the venue a little over 2yrs) so it’s just kind of if there’s a gig then there’s work which kind of gets on my nerves. 50hrs one week 10 the next, I’d like to work at a production company, and I’m in Orlando FL so there’s only a few around but I feel like since the industry I’m currently in is not exactly that I’m not really having any projects I can show to potentially get a job. So any advice on attempting to transition? Like I said, I do enjoy the industry I’m currently in, but it just feels like I’m working towards something that ultimately I’m still unsure of. Sorry if this seems a little unclear, if you have any questions, please ask. Thank you.
