im kind of an asshole but hear me out
so basically over this summer i started talking and getting… close with this guy who i go to camp with. we spoke last summer aswell, and even went on a date. but, honestly, i wasnt feeling it. it was awkward and there was no chemistry, from my perspective. the whole thing died out once school started back up, but when summer got closer he hit me up. he was flirty, in an awkward sort of way, and i entertained the conversation but i honestly had my attention elsewhere at that point. i brushed him off until our camp once again started. the program was 2 weeks (much shorter than usual), and the first week was spent with me avoiding him as much as possible until the end of the week, when i finally had enough. the whole week, i had our common friends and even people i barely knew approaching me, asking me about what i felt towards this guy. i was as honest as i could be: i said “i dont know”, “i lost interest”, and otherwise expressed my confusion and hesitance. but being that he had went to so many people for help (im talking texts from multiple people who werent even at the camp, all pushing me to give him a chance and be receptive to his advances), i decided it couldnt hurt to give it a chance. by week two, we were talking pretty steadily, but at day 2 of the second week things started getting… too intense. we would sleep in the same bed, cuddling a bit. we kissed a few times. (it was very awkward and i cant say i enjoyed it very much, maybe a little disappointing for a first kiss) it wasnt too much physically at that point, but emotionally. he told me that he loved me on the morning of the last day, then later asked me out that day. again, we were sat near his friends and i felt bad about shooting him down publicly so i agreed. the very next day, with camp over, i texted him and expressed that i liked him but i didnt want a relationship. i simply want to enjoy my life without the responsibilities of a relationship, such as communication and time. im more interested in having fun and connecting, not the serious aspects of it. well now hes turned to being incredibly corny and flirty, to the point that its not only annoying but… well its giving me second hand embarrassment. incredibly stupid reference incoming: he reminds me of Jordan from “too hot to handle” when hes on the date Flavia (the new bombshell) in the sense that all he does is awkwardly overcompliment and push for intimacy without any meaningful conversation. yes reality tv has rotted my brain. we recently went on a double date and it was VERY uncomfortable, especially when he would awkwardly pull me in for “cuddling” and talk about how he didnt touch me enough… the point is: im bored of this and i plan to text him tomorrow to cut it off. could use some advice on that.
also i take back the title at this point because im not an asshole for not being into the guy and i dont think ive strung him along… but im sure someone will disagree enormously
on an additional note: i kind of need to flush away the bad taste that this guy is leaving me with, and im thinking of texting this guy that im friends with. hes pretty attractive, smart and athletic and all that good stuff. i dont know that it would go anywhere, and really i just find him fun to talk to. we share a lot of interests, and i was going to text him about a movie i recently watched. question: would that be weird? i mean, would he see it a certain way that im contacting him? (he usually texts first) this is more aimed at any dudes, im interested to know how im being perceived.
im also geeked so this may not even make sense
