Legally save tax via family members
Hi,
I’m in the 30% tax bracket and looking for legal ways to reduce tax on income from my investments (FDs, mutual funds, dividends, etc.) by involving family members who are in lower or nil tax brackets. My family situation:
Wife: Housewife, no income
Mother: 60+, housewife
Father: 70+, Retired, pension < ₹3 lakhs/year
Daughter: 18 years old, student, no income
I'll avoid to invest via my wife as clubbing clause may apply there. Also wants to avoid via my father as he's drawing pension.
Remaining are my daughter and mother. Can I gift money (via bank NEFT/RTGS), but FDs from their ACs, open their demat ACs, invest in MF from their ac, etc.
Is this the 100% legal way to save the tax burden on me? What are the other things that I should be aware of. Please guide.
