DCFS visit/investigation? @ Illinois state
Location: Illinois
I live in the state of Illinois. Today, officers from the Juvenile Division and representatives from DCFS visited our home. They said they came because they received a report from my daughter's childcare center.
A few weeks ago, the childcare staff informed us that my daughter had touched her private area during class and had attempted to open her pants — something along those lines. It seems this is what triggered the report and the investigation.
My wife spoke with them and explained the situation. They asked her some questions and also checked our child’s room. It appears they are planning to contact me (the father) for further questioning as part of their investigation.
My question is: what should I expect as the next step in this process?
Do I need to contact a lawyer for this case?
This is a very embarrassing and unexpected situation for us, but we truly have nothing to hide. That’s why I’m unsure whether I should just let it be or if I should be more proactive.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
