What would you do in this situation?
Hi folks,
Looking for advice on what you would do in this situation. My mom ordered me what she thought was a real labubu on ebay (I know, I know, prime territory for scams). The item had photos of real a real labubu and looking back at the page she sent, it all seemed legitimate. It also was a mid-range price that seemed reasonable. So fast forward two weeks, the item gets here, all seems legit, but it ends up being a lafufu. Mom's obviously upset but doesn't want to ship this back to wherever it came from (China) because she's not trying to pay shipping and whatnot. The seller on ebay literally had their account taken down the day after the item shipped to us, so their account and the listing are not active anymore. We filed for a refund with ebay yesterday but also called the credit card company to dispute the charge, which they said they'd do. Today we get an email that the seller has offered us a partial refund (half price) and we can keep the lafufu.
Honestly, I'm not sure what the best choice would be. If we decline the refund, which mom wants to do, there's a chance of an outcome that doesn't benefit us as the buyers, but I could also see ebay stepping in and working in our favor. I'm not opposed to keeping the lafufu but I also don't need a fake when those are easy to get in the US and I already have a few that I got for way cheaper and are better quality! I did also manage to get a real labubu on popmart last night and it ended up being cheaper than this ebay one, so a refund would cover the cost of the real item.
Idk, thoughts are welcome. I'm kind of monkey in the middle because my mom was trying to do a nice thing for me but got scammed, but I'm also now managing this seller situation and I don't want to risk not being refunded at all or having a big headache from this whole thing. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or opinions!
