Is our timeline rude to guests?

Everything Else

Hi all! We’re getting married in a national park, and I’d love your thoughts on our wedding day timeline. It’s a little nontraditional. Our top priorities are avoiding crowds and creating a relaxed, memorable experience, but we also want to make sure our guests feel taken care of and included.

Here’s the draft timeline (it will be a small group of about 35 guests):

10:00 AM – Ceremony 10:30–11:30 AM – Casual brunch picnic near the ceremony site (think pastries, fruit, coffee, juice. Just a relaxed hangout) 11:30 AM–4:00 PM – Free time to explore the park or head back to the Airbnb/cabins 4:00 PM – Reception with dinner and dancing

The ceremony site is about 45 minutes from the reception area, which has nearby cabins we’re recommending for guests so no one needs to drive afterward.

My main concern is the break between the brunch and the reception. I know gaps like this can sometimes feel inconvenient or inconsiderate to guests. Our intention is to give people time to enjoy the scenery, take photos, or relax before dinner, especially since the park is such a beautiful setting. I plan on being VERY thorough on our website so guests know what to expect but I am concerned guests will feel we are being rude.

I’d really appreciate your honest (but kind!) feedback — especially if you’ve experienced a wedding like this or have ideas to make it feel smooth and guest-friendly. Thank you!
