Why the fuck do subreddits have so many rules

Rules that are normal (no discrimination, politics, etc) are fine but I'm talking about the ones where you can't post certain things or talk about unreasonable things. Like at this point posts on some subreddits are just clones, and the thing is they'll also have a rule about repetitive posts (which js reasonable). I genuinely don't understand why.
