Thought on my way home from the range

Random thought I had on my way home from the range. I just took my CCL classes last week and am waiting on my application to process. If something were to happen where Im being attacked or there is an active shooter in my immediate vicinity, am I allowed to go into my trunk and get my gun? im in Illinois if that matters

edit this isnt a question about if the attacker will give me time to get to my gun. Its a simple legality question.
