Confused about GoPro's camera replacement process.

I have a GoPro Hero 11 Mini that recently has stopped recognizing SD card. Tried different kinds of SD cards from top brands, cheap brands, different specs of the required U3 cards, etc. It's always the same issue, recording starts and then I get a message after a second or two that there's no SD card and asks me to format the card. If you format, it sits formatting for hours on end.

It looks like a common issue with no fix after some Google searching and I was thinking of using GoPro's camera replacement service that they provide with the premium subscription but I had two questions:

First question: The website says my 11 Mini is "$99" for this service. Is that $99 towards the purchase of a new camera when I send it in or do I give them $99 and they send me a (what I assume) refurbished 11 Mini? It wasn't apparent to me when reading about the service if the $99 was a fee or a credit.

Second question: I've only had my Mini 11 camera and Premium subscription for about 3 or 4 months. Does GoPro require someone to have the subscription for a specific length of time before you can replace a camera to stop people from only buying a subscription just to replace a broken camera? I didn't see anything that said a specified subscription length was required but I also know how most companies like to hide caveats like this from consumers.

Any help or suggestions is appreciated. Didn't see any previous posts that covered this so hopefully it's not a repeat or commonly repeated question. Thanks.
