I like how whistles and especially white whistles represent different stages of the "game progression" that cave raiders are at.

Anime Discussion

Hi. For context, I am currently in the middle of season 2 and I haven't read manga.

I love hyperfixating on characters, which is why most of my thought-effort went towards my favorites, which are Ozen and Bondrewd. But then I asked myself "Why do I like specifically white whistles?". I realized that they are developed and well fleshed-out characters, "...but why so?". And that's when it has struck me. Bondrewd and Ozen are literally the embodiment of those players in sandbox games that are at the end game, but are still engaging with the game actively doing some high tier content (Bondrewd), grinding completion for no reason or just chilling doing some nonsense (Ozen).

And the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. Red whistles are basically players who just logged in for the first time and are learning the basics, blue whistles are somewhat experienced intermediate level players who are still "too bad" to do anything risky/difficult, so on and so forth. And it is also interesting how these parallels can be drawn with types of players as well, such as the ones I mentioned above featuring Ozen and Bondrewd or the "speedrunners" (such as Riko), "I quit many years ago, but I returned because..." (such as Nanachi) or even "I am an NPC that will follow you throughout the whole game because its important for plot" (Such as Reg I don't mean it in a bad way).

Of course all of this might be me looking for existence of something that isn't actually there, but the "straightness of parallels" got me quite surprised, which is why I wonder if any of you had the same feeling about it? Or maybe the author admitted at being inspired by a similar system... Or something entirely different!! But also I just want to engage with the community because I am completely in love with the universe...

Thank you for your time! May your scrolling be full of curses and blessings~.
