My Favorite Moment In The Riftwar Cycle So Far (And a question about the revised edition of “Prince of the Blood”)
I just finished Prince of the Blood (if you saw my earlier post... yeah I read it super fast as it was quite addicting) and I was shocked at how much I loved it! I think Feist’s writing has improved over the years and I’m also beginning to understand that I tend to like the more low-stakes fantasy side to this series than the world-ending magic stuff. Anyway…
There is a scene in this book that caught me completely off guard by how powerful it was. It’s the scene where Gamina first encounters Jimmy and looks into his mind and his past. In a few pages, Feist takes us through this journey recapping the tragic moments of Jimmy’s life. Some things we have witnessed and some not–and it’s simply gorgeous. Don’t get me wrong, Feist is a good enough writer, but this was the first time I was really awed by his prose. Such a great/touching scene for a character I love so much. (Oh, and completely unrelated but, Nakor is amazing… I figure everyone here knows that already but, yeah he is just one of the best characters I’ve read.)
But moving on to my question:
What are the differences between the original and revised editions to Prince of the Blood? I read the original, and it says online that there are fairly significant changes between the two–though I can’t seem to find a source that tells me what those differences are.
