should i tell people i’m leaving or just stop going?
so i haven’t gone to church in a couple weeks as i’ve realized i don’t believe, but i want to officially leave within the next week. should i do that though? or just silently make my exit? would that even work considering how deeply involved i am in it?
everyone from church is texting me asking where i am and that they’re worried. i wonder if i should tell them directly that im leaving, or just keep making excuses/slowly distance? bc one, i don’t want to make them sad/think im “turning to the devil” once they find out im leaving, and two, i just know the only interaction ill have with anyone once they know is them trying to get me to come back.
i’ve been pushing doing anything about this off for about a week now as im just avoiding reality honestly. i wrote many “leaving” texts to many people in my notes app but haven’t sent them. i also need to unenroll from the priv christian school thru my church too and i haven’t done that yet. ive made no progress in leaving besides not going for a few weeks and honestly not responding to anyone.
anyway, people who have experience leaving their church they were once super involved in, how did you leave? for context i’m 17 so if you were in a similar spot as me at around that age, that would help too.
