I Won Lotto the day after we filed divorce papers at the court, can she claim any of it?
Ok… true event. Over 15 years ago.
Can my ex wife make a claim?
Keeping the details a bit vague because NZ is a tiny place.
I have always kept my large Lotto win a secret in case my ex wife could come at me for more. I won over 3 times the price of our humble house.
We separated, 4 years later we sorted out assets who paid who what and so on (reason for 4 years has to be secret) through lawyers. Our last act was to file the papers at court, we met at the local district court on a Friday, together we went up to the counter and filed the final papers. Everything was agreed to through lawyers, we had been separated for 4 years and that was it. It was relaxed and amicable.
At 8 the following night I won first prize. (30 hours later)
Was there, is there, any way she could have or could still make a claim against me?
House was passed to my ownership, as per the agreed settlement, the following Wednesday after I paid her some money.
