How to stop spiraling
I am so exhausted of the anxiety spiral. Especially when it comes to my emetophobia. I have had some good days and bad days, but it has often been feeling as though the bad outweighs the good by a mile.
I feel like I am stuck in a cycle of constantly worrying if I’ll be sick. I’m thinking about it almost all of the time. Because of it, I have a really tough time eating and sleeping normally, and my anxiety is almost always worse at night. Not eating makes me feel worse, but it’s starting to become normal for me to not eat 3 meals a day, which is concerning. I just don’t know how to get out of this loop. I’m convincing myself I have some sort of illness constantly and am bracing myself for if I will vomit. I am hyperfixating on my body so much and worried that if I even feel “off” for a minute that I’m doomed.
It also doesn’t help that my stomach is often cramping and I talk myself into feeling anxious and unwell. I’ve practically convinced myself I have IBS at this point (wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true) and I’m positive it’s a direct result of my anxiety. I don’t know how to make myself feel better. I know the mind-gut connection is strong, and I’m scared I’m ruining myself beyond repair.
I’m so tired of feeling this way. I do have a therapist and am hoping to be medicated soon. I guess I was just wondering if anyone has any advice for me on how to stop this cycle?
