very confused on calorie goals and tracking macros

Calorie Estimating

Hey everyone, I’m a 20 year old male. I’m 5,6 and weight 145 lbs. I just recently started taking lifting more seriously, and I’ve started tracking my food intake and use an app to reach calorie goals and macro goals. I’ve been a competitive rock climber for over 6 years and a very active guy so I already have a pretty solid physique and strength.

I’ve been getting a lot of my info from chatgpt (roast me if u want idc)

I have set a 2500 calorie goal to reach every day, 313 g of carbs, 70 g of fat, and 150 g of protein. I genuinely thought that I was just supposed to reach those numbers and call it a day on eating. That’s what I’ve been doing for the past week, but then I realized that for all the calories that I burn, that’s extra calories I need to eat? I’m a very active person like I said above. My job has me doing heavy lifting and being on my feet all day aswell, so I’m usually burning around 800-1000 calories a day? But that is a complete guess because I don’t have any fitness tracker to help me.

My main question is how have I been eating 1000 calories less than I need to be eating a day( since I’ve started tracking my calories that’s already caused me to eat more food) and not loosing a lot of weight? I’ve been 140 lbs consistently for a year or 2 now, and I just recently moved up too 145 from the food I’ve been eating extra lately. So something doesn’t feel like it’s adding up. Should I invest in a fitness tracker so that I’m doing everything correctly?

I had no idea how much work goes into food tracking. I’m enjoying it, but damn!
