I'm not in a costume this is just how i look

Meme/Humor

So. A few years back (i think 2022?) this happened to me for the first time (I've also been mistaken as an employee at Hot Topic and Spencers since this). I was watching an episode of one of my fav podcasts on YT where they talked about this subreddit. And I personally laugh about this to this day. Hope y'all enjoy. It was mid October and I was at a nearby pop up Halloween store. The smell of cheap plastic and latex filled the air. I was dressed in a pretty standard outfit for myself. So standard I genuinely couldn't even tell you what it was. Most of my closet is made to be comfortable and work in a variety of contexts. I should also explain: I am very much so visibly queer/trans/non-binary. I also live in an area known for conservative presence. All of this to say... just by existing I kind of stand out. Back to the story. As I was searching the aisles a man came up to me and asked about a specific product. Me, being a stone faced AuDHDer, replied after a second of hesitation "wait... do you think I work here?" He replied to the effect of "oh. Yeah, absolutely". I calmly said back "oh. No. I just look like this". Most of the employees at this place had some sort of costume piece on as well as name tags. Very clearly marked employees. So.... apparently I look like a Halloween store employee? I don't know how I'm supposed to take that. But it is very funny.

TL;DR visibly trans person in everyday clothing gets asked if they are an employee at Halloween store
