401K Matching question/ Savings Advice
So I have been working full time now for 4 years. Ever since the start of my career, I have always contributed 12% of my monthly income to my 401K. The company I currently work for will match 50% of the first 4% of pay I contribute. I also invest monthly into a Money Market SPAXX through Fidelity.
My question is: Does it make sense for me to continue with the 12% towards my 401K? Or should I lower my 401K contributions and put that into my personal investment account. I will definitely contribute more than 4% but I was thinking about lowering my 401K contribution to 8% and putting the other 4% in my SPAXX account.
If I was to lower my contribution to 8%, with the company match my total contribution would be 10%. Or if I wanted it just at 8% total, I could lower my contribution to 6% and my total contribution with the company match would be 8% leaving me with 6% more to personally invest.
Open to any thoughts, opinions, and savings advice.
