First time homebuyer in central nj

First time homebuyer in central NJ this is absolutely brutal! The max we can afford is 600k and even that’s pushing it for us. These houses are so small & need so much work for the money. This is just so fustrating. I am expecting, and I would like to move out before the baby is born it just seems damn near impossible with this market. I just want to cry !!!!
