Unilateral salpingectomy, Ovarian Cyst

I recently had a unilateral salpingectomy due to a 9.3cm ovarian cyst I had on my left ovary. Just here to share my experience because I didn’t see a lot of people speaking about it, so hoping it can help others and potentially ease their minds if they’re also going through something similar. I am 23F , one day in April of 2025 I was experiencing pelvic/abdominal pain like no other. It felt similar to the start of a period, cramping etc. But it was more intense than usual, even though I still just brushed it off. The pain started while I was at work, went away for a few hours and returned around 2 am waking me up out of my sleep. It was so much pain and pressure when I woke up and tried to urinate. So I went to the ER, the pain didn’t seem like it was going to go away anytime soon and prolonged abdominal pain is very abnormal for me. After hours in the ER they did a vaginal ultrasound and found a mass. Within a week I seen a gynecologist, the OB/GYN ran some blood work, wasn’t cancerous (thank God), but it was so big that it had to be removed. The cyst completely encompassed my left ovary, as there was no visible left ovary. I was informed that the cyst, the ovary, and the left fallopian tube had to be removed. All of this was within a month. My surgery was scheduled for May, and this was my first surgery ever, so it was a bit scary. But I just put trust into my doctors and the universe lol. My Doctor informed me that the goal was minimally invasive/as little scarring as possible, but of course if there had to be a bigger scar then there would be. Luckily I only have 3 scars, I was expecting at least 5. One from my belly button about an 1 1/2 downward, and two on either side of my pelvis not even an inch long. I was expecting to feel like I was hit by a truck after surgery but surprisingly I felt better than I ever thought I would. By day 3 post op I was walking around target(also was driving, not sure if I was supposed to be driving though), slowly but surely. Around day 6 I didn’t feel the need to continue pain meds. I was expecting a lot of shoulder pain because that’s what I heard a lot of from others with similar surgeries, but I felt little to no shoulder pain at all. I am now 7 weeks post op and feeling amazing, better than ever honestly. I had a normal and on time cycle last month to my surprise. But I am currently bleeding now(about 2 weeks after my period) I’m not sure if this is another period or my body trying to regulate the hormones. My last period and I guess my current period are painless, little to no cramping, not regular medium flow. I’m not sure how long the cyst was there or growing but I think I learned to live with certain discomforts that I didn’t even realize were effecting me. I can definitely say I have more energy, less menstrual cramps and less bloating in my lower abdomen.
