Application Fees

Who is actually paying these graduate program application fees? I generally see people post their applied schools and acceptance rates with an average of at least 10 schools; personally, I applied to 10 schools and submitted application fee waivers for all of them. A really rough total average you are looking at $800, with some schools being in the hundreds and the lowest I have seen being $75.

If you care about my opinion, I have always seen application fees for living or school as just a scummy money generator, considering you are only paying for the opportunity of a service and nothing else. They can accept hundreds of application fees while knowing only a handful will benefit from paying and being accepted.
