Struggling/Consolidation
So I've been struggling to pay off my debts.
I currently have MasterCard $9200 @ 22.99% Visa $5500 @ 22.99% Line of credit $10000 @ 10%
I put $350-$400 on the MasterCard each month, and about $300 on the visa. More if I have it. I've only been paying the interest on the line of credit each month about $100.
Ive never been late on a payment, but I feel like I'm getting nowhere with the high interest on the cards. The debt started during COVID and spiralled, I am in a better job situation now. I do live in a fairly HCOL area which didn't help.
My personal bank advised me to get a loan to consolidate for $25,000 @13% payed over 4 years which I believe would be about $600 monthly with the stipulation that my line of credit (it is with my personal bank) will close and my visa credit limit will be lowered from $9000 to $1000. I am approved for that loan with no issues.
The MasterCard I would close or significantly lower the limit, probably to $1000 as well for emergencies. ( I haven't used the MasterCard for purchases in about 8 months .
My question is for you smart folks, does this make sense? Is it a smart move? My gut says yes because it will make it easier to budget, faster to pay off and just simplify my bills each month.
