Does the deck usually have so many mic issues?

Only had it for a couple months but every time I play a new (or even one I've played before) co-op game the microphone always has some sort of issue. Occasionally I won't even be able to hear my friends even when everything settings-wise looks fine.

Anyone else or is mine defective?
