I can’t go to the police. They seem corrupt (UK)

I always had a gut feeling that the whole system here is corrupt. I’ve been abused for decades but I’ve also been witnessing child abuse. The dynamics are exactly like a hostage situation but the kids are hostage and will be harmed if i go to the police. I’ve been paralysed with fear. How can I go to the police when they are arresting 83 year old grandmas because they are protesting the killing of children in another country? If they don’t show empathy here, how could they possibly show empathy for these abused children?
