Where do I start to find a career that will be able to support me?

Advice

Hi all, 19F and feeling pretty screwed. Vent/ looking for advice.

I feel like I haven’t even really started my life yet and I don’t know where to start. I don’t know which career path I want to choose.

Growing up I always wanted to be a veterinarian, but as I got older I realized that I probably wouldn’t be able to make it through school (barely made it through high school)

I had a quick thought about being a nurse, enrolled in college for nursing, made it through about 3 weeks and unenrolled. I started cosmetology school shortly after because I’ve always loved doing my friends hair. A few weeks in i unenrolled because I hated doing it. I constantly do nails in my free time so I’m looking into the sign up for a 9 week course to become a nail technician (probably a bad idea).

I know it seems like I’m not giving things a chance, but if I’m working for basically the rest of my life until retirement (and who knows if they’ll change the age) I want something that i can enjoy, as much as you can enjoy a job.

I want a job that I can move up the ladder with, but also be excited to go into work (maybe it’s just me, but like digging for fossils?? Come on now!! Or being able to decorate houses??) which I know you can’t REALLY move up the ladder with those jobs but I know I’d enjoy them.

When I talk to people that are in their 30s or later and are still living in an apartment with a job that really should be enough to support them, I feel so hopeless. I wish I could live in a different universe where I could make minimum wage and be able to support myself in at least an apartment.

Any guidance or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
