Guys, help me convince my dad to get a cat

He personally loves and adores cats and previously he had 2 cats but both of them died. I have asked him to get a cat but he always rejects my requests. He tells me that we can't have a cat because we live in a flat and no one is going to care for her when I officially enter clg. Suggest some ways to convince him. (Sry for my English skills).
