I have seen many about how many of us can't hold down a job due to our CPTSD, here's my tip on what I did to overcome and get better.
This is an opinion and worked for me when I almost became homeless. I can't promise it will work for you. But if you are about to become homeless, I hope this can help you.
Backstory:
My lease was running up, my deployment to fight for a foreign legion in Ukraine was cancelled after the Foreign Legion base was bombed killing 300 foreign fighters in Ukraine and I had no where to go since my flight to Poland to meet my contact at Kiev was cancelled.
I had just met my girlfriend not even 2 weeks prior which was supposed to be a short fling since I probably was not coming home if you get my drift and since my deployment was cancelled I was 110% about to be homeless. I already had PTSD and could not hold down a job very long, thus my deployment was my last resort since I had former military and combat medical experience.
Luckily, I moved in with my girlfriend but I had a plan if we broke up.
Here is what I am doing which has helped me get A LOT better:
Step 1: Get yourself on Social Security disability. I know this will suck but it will take some time to come to the conclusion that "I'm sick, I need help and I can't work until I get better". The max you will probably get is 1300. Tell them you are homeless, you don't have a car, no where to stay, you are on the streets and all alone. Period. That's your story and you will have to stick to it. Tell them other wise and you'll get a non survivable amount.
Step 2: Move to a small town in a rural like state like Texas, Oklahoma, Montana, etc. where you can get a 2 bedroom+ house for rent for $500 per month. Usually it's not even a bad house, it's just cheap because no one wants to live in the middle of freaking nowhere where everybody knows everyone and you have to drive to the nearest big city for almost anything (I am a person who does and was raised as a rancher but that's just me).
Step 3: Get on food stamps and tell them the same story (see step 1). They will give you the max amount.
Step 4: Take partial of your disability and use it towards a therapist. Average price for me is roughly 150 per session. Personally I like EMDR and I truly can see myself healing dramatically but only you will know what's best for you. Take the rest of your money and put it into savings. Don't buy anything stupid. Focus on survival for the next year or so and I promise if you really put all your might into it, you will start seeing major change. I occasionally buy me clothes because I am losing a lot of my weight while healing but all my money goes towards rent, phone, internet, therapist and lessons for my personal interest which is helping me advance in my career once I heal.
Final Step: get into a community college. 16 or 60 doesn't matter. Financial aid and marking yourself fully homeless like I said gives you an average maximum amount on FAFSA of anywhere from 7k-9500 after classes are paid. Take this money and get you a vehicle if you don't have one, then put the rest into savings (if you do have a vehicle put it all in there and don't touch it until you are healed or it's an emergency), do a few semesters if you like or even pursue a degree (I recommend this). In the mean time to keep your brain from insanity, go do volunteer work. For me I work with horses, I fish, go to the shooting range, and I am devoutly religious. I will also use meetup . com to find people with similar interest. I also play video games for a few hours when I am free to help take my mind off the trauma I contemplate a lot.
Since you have a version of PTSD (Cptsd is PTSD) you can also do equine therapy for FREE 99% of the time at most horse places. Best of luck friends. I am rooting for you.
