Advice needed for tourist Schengen Visa application at the German Missions in Toronto

Question

Hello,

Need some help navigating my Schengen visa application and interview process after a layoff. I am traveling to Germany and Austria (Berlin, Munich for Oktoberfest, Salzburg and Hallstadt).

Main purpose = Tourism

Country/ Consulate for application - German Missions in Toronto

When = September End to Mid October (~25 days)

Nationality and status = Indian citizen, but permanent resident of Canada. Based in Toronto

Context =

I will be traveling to and from Berlin and will be staying partially with my cousin in Berlin who has given me an invitation letter and all proof of status docs in Germany already to show. I also have my flight tickets, accommodation, insurance proof and the financial means for this travel. I have savings and have all my bank statements ready to go as well. I was part of the lay-offs at my company recently, and I'm currently interviewing for other jobs. In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have booked things in advance, but I was not anticipating getting laid off.

Help with =

My appointment is in 2 days, and I'm wondering what other documentation or reasons I can provide to ensure the application is successful. I am eligible for Canadian citizenship next year and plan to use that as my reason for return if appropriate. Or should I postpone my interview until I have a job? I still have one more month before things get close to my travel date, but I didn't want to get too close to that.

Would appreciate any advice.

Thank you!
