She seemed nice at first?
In home country, you can rent without a contract, and that's what most students do. You get lucky when you and your friend group who is looking for rent, find an empty house for rent that satisfies everyone. That was never the case for me. I moved houses 3 times in one year. I'm still living in the lastest of them. It's a small studio, a 2-bed room, a kitchen and a shower room. A girl posted looking for a roommate after her friend left without notice, and I was in a hurry to find a new place after a huge fight with my last landlord. So I immediately texted her and reserved the place for myself. Not gonna lie, the girl seemed sweet and trust worthy, and I felt like I didn't have to worry about her stealing from me like the others did. And I was right. BUT..... When I first moved, she told me that she got two requests, the first was no smoking inside the room, and the second was no bringing anyone to the room. I don't smoke, so I didn't have any issue with her first request, but I do have my girlfriends that sometime visit me and we have sleepovers, unfortunately I needed to give that up. I wanted mutual respect and no issues between us. As time goes by, I started noticing how she was so self-centered and loves to talk a lot about herself. She'd always find a way to make me feel like she was in a higher level than me. How she got countless friends and some of them are local celebrities. How she got so many followers on Instagram that constantly watch her stories so she needed to be careful about what she posted (I thought she got like 50k, but she got only a bit over 1k). How she's always on the phone with some boy while I'm just scrolling talking to no one. How she was engaged to some millionaire but called off the engagement right when she found he was cheating on her. How she landed an internship in a big radio station and her boss trusted her with a lot of confidential work. While I'm here working in a call center with no external financial support and trying to figure out how on earth am I supposed to finish my studies and get my deploma without quitting or working part-time. On days when I leave before her, I make sure not to wake her up. I'd get ready in the kitchen, and close the door quietly. While she would slam the door shut whenever she goes out. Our door does not have a handle from the outside, so I use the key to close it quietly, she could do the same. I always tell her about my schedule so she knows the days when I have to sleep early and wake up early, but she always keep chatting out loud on the phone. When I first moved in, she told me that she was going to stay just the period of her internship and then go back to her parents' house to finish working on her theses, so we were meant to live together 3 months. On the third month, she brought a friend of hers twice for a sleepover without even informing me in advance, claiming later that it was an emergency and couldn't leave her friend. I accepted it as it is the first time cuz shit happens, but later her friend mentioned in my presence how she kept insisting on her and coming in and spending the night for fun. I acted fool and let it go, so it happened for the second time, also no informing in advance. I just open the door and find her inside, and my roommate would just apologize, and I just accept it. I was thinking to myself that she's moving out soon and I'd be free. I could also do the same and bring my friend for a sleepover without telling her, but that sounded too petty and immature to me. Before moving out she told me that her bosses are too satisfied with her work and that they'd hire her but the CEO is facing legal issues and nothing was clear, and that if she ever got hired there she would like to live here. She talked to our landlord who is a very a very sweet old lady, and she agreed to keep the place for her without her having to pay anything, and I would just keep paying my part of the rent. So I got to live 3 months alone in this tiny studio, so peacefully, and I brought my girlfriends so many times. Actually living alone and having my own place was a dream of mine ever since I was a kid, cuz I always had to share a room. Anyways. 3 months had passed now and no news from her, and a highschool friend from mine decided to do a job interview in the same company I'm working in, and we've lived together before, I know we're compatible, so naturally I suggested to her to come live with me id she ever got accepted. I called my landlord to ask her if she got any news from my roommate and explained the situation with my friend, she said that she didn't and that she'd be calling her right away. A few minutes later she came by and told me that the girl will not be coming back and that she'd rather find a rent somewhere close to her workplace. So I explained what was going on with my friend and made sure to tell her that nothing was yet confirmed. She just agreed on not starting looking for someone until my friend confirms herself if she'd be moving in. My friend's job interview is scheduled for tomorrow, and I got a call from my landlord informing me that my roommate decided to come back and will be moving in probably next week. Now I'm worried about my friend, what if she doesn't find a room to rent? This time imma sure I wouldn't let anything slide, and will be living by my rules.
