Positive QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus test

Current situation - I am a travel nurse furthering my education and needed my yearly TB test both for work and Clinicals for school. I have taken 7 months off work and am living in Costa Rica with my family. I got the QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus test done here and am positive. I immediately got a chest xray that was clear. Terrible timing because I did the blood draw right before I got a cold. My symptoms don’t align with TB (no cough, difficulty breathing, sputum and no unexpected weight loss since the last test). Their public health department is suggesting going back to the US immediately and getting treatment there, but I have no where to live until I get a contract which i can’t do until I complete Clinicals and begin the tx for latent tb, which i really don’t want to go thru if I don’t have to 🙃! What’s the possibility of a false positive? Could having an elevated immune response trigger a false positive? Stressing out here and quarantining myself until this cold gets better so I can retest.
