What is with hormonal migraines?

My worst migraines haven’t happened in a few months, those included pain and throwing up and inability to hardly exist. In bed in the dark all day.

However what in the world is with headaches/migraines that occur right before or after the end of your cycle? I’ve had a headache/migraine for over 24 hours, when I woke up with it yesterday I knew it would be gone once my period started. Then today I still struggled bad and took a hot bath where I washed my face makeup off so I could rub my eyes with ice as I pleased. I finally broke down and took a sumatriptan, which did start to help, then my period started. Literally my headache is gone (post drome still evident).

Does anyone else experience this? I was prescribed Prozac for pmdd to help, and it has. But I’m so bummed this go around with a bad headache/migraine. I blame my period but I also got into an argument with a friend on Sunday which kept me up at night and led to poor sleeping. I guess migraines really can be all things combined to trigger one?
