I would like suggestions on a new graphics card for 1440p 120fps gaming on most games (high settings).

Hardware

Like the title suggests I am really looking for an upgrade for my graphics card since it is such an old card. I am currently running this setup:

I am open to suggestions on what I should grab at this rate, since anything will be a huge boost and I do not know how much of a bottleneck my CPU will be, and I am just not able to compare/contrast all the little fine details with everything. I have been looking to upgrade for years and keep telling myself to push it off since something will get cheaper/ a better option will come out. What do you guys think??

I am shooting for a budget around $500. Less is probably better. Let me know if I am crazy for shooting for something low.
