Abdominal hysterectomy
Had my Abdominal Hysterectomy on July 3,2025, so tomorrow will make it a week! r take! At this point my heart is working over time making it feel as tho I’m about to have a heart attack. They send me home tell me to follow up with my primary doctor because all I need was iron because my iron was low as well. Fast forward so I haven’t been to an OBGYN in about 27 years due to trauma, I got raped and had a baby at the age of 11, so anything or anybody going in between my legs I couldn’t do! Hence why it took this long to get these fibroids under control / removed! After seeing my doctor he made a few referrals and my first time seeing an OBGYN she was very pleasant understanding and worked with me and my anxiety. Her exact words when I laid flat on the table, your have a overgrown uterus you have 5 fibroids ranging in size from 4cm to 12cm your uterus is currently at 36 weeks gestational as if your was carrying a baby! Know I’m starting to understand why I have been so fatigued these last few months, to the point where I’m using the electric carts in the stores to get around. They told me on March 30 that I would be having surgery July 3, when I found out was scared, nervous and very anxious about this because I’ve never had a major surgery, and then what could go wrong started to play in my head, if it wasn’t for my support team/ family I would have probably been a nervous wreck the day of but surprisingly I was calm and ready!
The first moment when they woke me up after surgery that pain I felt was at a 10+. I haven’t had that level of pain since. Everything has been manageable around 5-6 the biggest thing for me is the gas pain like geesh I’ve never felt so much pressure down there before the surgery, so gas X a gum chewing have been my best friend! I stayed in the hospital for 2days 1 night! Day one at home think I over did it I was definitely walking around a lot just trying push that gas out! And keep moving , nope don’t be like me rest, rest. I read something on this form that hit home “ don’t chase the pain manage it”. I don’t wanna get use to these drugs so I’m trying to push thru the pain, don’t be like me use the meds it will make your days better and the nights even better! Stay on the meds schedule it is important I learned this day 4 at home!
I go to see the doctor Monday to have my bandage removed, now this is where the real healing starts once this bandage is off to keep it from getting infected, but I’m up for the challenge and I know I’ll be fine!
