what other things/behaviors do you not consume/do?
I'm curious what other things/behaviors sober vegans abstain from that reflect how you want to treat your body, mind, the earth and others, or that just bring you peace. Perhaps that would be considered non-mainstream, like being sober or vegan. Here are a few of mine:
• no drugs
• no sugary drinks; I do love LaCroix and other seltzers that are just carbonated water and flavor
• no artificial sweeteners
• I try to avoid anything with artificial colors
• I stopped using my clothes dryer over 4 years ago and have been line drying everything indoors year-round; I have some lines that stay up full-time and some others that I can put up when needed; ceiling fans on high help dry things out
• pretty much no caffeine, unless I have something with cocoa in it
• I've really cut down on my intake of bread; I still love it and crackers and other carbs, but don't eat as much of them as I used to
• I stopped wearing deodorant a couple years ago; I find that I don't really stink and if I get that sweaty, there's wet paper towels or a shower
• I'm going to stop being a pet person; I have an aging outdoor cat and once he's gone, I don't plan on having any more pets; I see how happy he is being outside and getting to explore and live in nature and I think all animals should be able to do that without being physically or psychologically trapped
• I have a pee jar that I use for #1 instead of the toilet; it's a medium-sized clear plastic powdered peanut butter jar; pee gets dumped down the sink drain followed by a partial fill/rinse with water (sometimes I repeat the rinse - goal is to have no pee-containing water sitting in the trap of the drain so the sink doesn't smell like pee); motivation is to save water versus flushing the toilet
