Bookclub in Waterford

I've been thinking about starting a bookclub in Waterford - I've tried one in the past but didnt like it so I'm thinking about starting a brand new one. I just don't know where to start!

I'm in my 30s, I like reading a bit of everything (no themed bookclub then), looking to talk about books with other book lovers every 4-6 weeks, preferably on a Saturday as during the week I can have a very busy and unpredictable work schedule.

I was thinking I could set up an Instagram page, maybe, to promote the new bookclub which currently has only 1 member - me.

My questions are:

  1. Given the extremely low number of members currently in the club, what would the best strategy to attract people be? Should I present a title and hope that at least one other person will join or should I try and "recruit" members first?

  2. Should I pick a date for the first meeting and just have faith that someone will eventually show up?

Any tips, hints or suggestions are more than welcome!
