DAE feel like they try to follow the rules of polite society and laws of our country?
Let me just say this up front. I’m not a Karen. Not a Karrin, not a Keren, not a Kiera, not a Kara, and definitely not the type to ask for a manager. I usually keep it moving. But honestly, I feel like we’re all just ignoring the basic rules of society at this point.
And I’m not saying I’ve never bent one myself. I have. But some of the stuff I’ve seen lately is wild.
A guy made a full left turn at an intersection with a giant “No Left Turn” sign. Then he stared at me like I was the idiot for not slamming on my brakes.
Someone at a crosswalk hit the button so many times it looked like he was trying to stimulate the clit of a dead whale.
At the DMV, a woman answered a FaceTime call on speaker while standing under a sign that said “Quiet Please.” Like, not even pretending to care.
In the grocery store, a man brought in his dog and told the clerk, “He’s basically my child.” His “child” was licking the deli case.
A guy cut the line at the bank and said “I’m in a rush” like that was a valid ticket to skip everybody.
I saw a mom let her kid throw breadcrumbs at the ducks even though there was a big sign saying not to. The pool in the apartment complex, like we want to swim with ducks!
When the kid asked why, mom said “Because the government’s weird.” Great lesson.
A car parked in the fire lane with its hazards on. Like the blinkers made it legal.
A guy dropped his coffee cup on the ground and said “They hire people for that.” Right. And we also hire janitors for schools, but that doesn’t mean you poop in the hallway.
In the middle of a movie, a guy answered his phone and whispered, “I’m in a movie but it’s not that good.” Thanks for the update.
At the zoo, a lady hopped the fence to pet the giraffe because “he looks nice.”
In a hospital, a guy walked through a “Staff Only” door looking for snacks.
Someone yelled at a cop because their car got towed from a “No Parking” zone. Like the sign was just a polite suggestion.
A woman brought a parrot to jury duty. Said “He helps me think.” Maybe the bird should be on the jury.
At a concert, a girl blocked the fire exit because it was closer to the stage. Said, “I paid a lot for these shoes.” Priorities.
Then there was the guy who walked across a clearly labeled wet paint bench and acted like someone else ruined his pants.
At this point, it’s not just bad manners. It’s a full-on condition. I call it Entitledism. We’ve all got a little bit of it, but some people are out here living in it full-time free range idiot mode.
Anyway. I’ll be over here following signs and trying not to scream into my reusable cup.
