My cat overgrooming and biting herself
im hoping someone can help me with this asap. me and my boyfriend adopted our first cat May 3rd. when we adopted her, we were told that she was treated for millary dermatitis before. she was given a 0.5mL (10mg) Depomedrol and seemed to be back to normal. we adopted her not thinking that this would reoccur. she was also given a flea treatment as well. we noticed that around the top of her eyes she would like lick her paw and scratch her eye. her eyes would bleed eventually since she did it non stop. she would also do it everywhere on her body, including her legs, tails, and nipples. we went to the vet and gave her another flea treatment a week after we adopted her. it still continued. it did nothing. we go back on 5/17 and was given convenia since she had a skin infection. nothing. on 6/6 the bleeding has been daily and we put her in a cone. nothing. she can reach certain places of her body and still make herself bleed and lose her hair. 6/14 she was diagnosed with ringworm after the doctor performed a woods lamp test. i decided to decline sending out a sample to test for ringworm since the assistant and doctor said they are certain its ringworm. she was given clindamycin and itrafungol. she completed the clindamycin course and is on week 4 of itrafungol. i am writing this because she is still licking herself and biting her skin so bad she made a new spot bleed again maybe 5 minutes ago. I called to speak with the doctor but she wont be back for another 3 days. thats IF she decides to call me. I am so desperate for help. Im trying to change to a new vet since i feel as if no one is trying their best for my poor cat. shes depressed. she doesn’t sleep with me anymore. she doesn’t play with us the same. she doesn’t lay with me anymore. i feel like shes losing her love for me. I am so desperate for help. I don’t have money right now to take her to a vet so I’m asking for any advice to help me out. Advice about how i should approach this with my old and soon to be new vet, how can i make her happy again. The vet told me that i should take her out the cone for a few minutes each day but she runs away to gnaw at her skin again. Ive only had her for 2 months and for most of our time shes been in a cone. this isnt fair to her. any help would be extremely appreciated. i am also a first time cat owner so all of this is new to me. I dont want to give up. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading. Thank you and god bless.
on top of this, she has been on gabapentin since before being adopted. she was also treated for pink eye (ofloxacin and tobramycin) as well. unsure if that does anything.
