I am a heavy Leatherman user. I carried the Charge TTI for many years, and now I carry the Skeletool. This is my second Skeletool and after years of daily carry and use, it just never broke in the way I wanted it. "Just use it" I can hear people saying. Well... I HAVE used it. Even after years of everyday carry, the blade opening was pretty smooth, one half the pliers were pretty smooth, but that second half of the pliers still had a tight factory snap. Opening them one-handed was a challenge. I couldn't take it anymore; I finally did what I should have done on day one:

1). Drill a hole in a smaller (4" -5") reciprocating saw blade

2). Fasten your Skeletool into a bench vice so the non-broken-in half of the Skeletool is sticking straight up and can be moved on its non-broken-in pivot

3). Using a bolt, a series of washers, and a nylon locknut, affix the reciprocating saw blade to the Skeletool

4). Insert the saw blade into the saw, and fire away

5). Lube with Tri-Flow (teflon)

I am happy to report that IT IS AMAZING!! This technique worked so well, I can now open my Skeletool pliers with one hand like a butterfly knife. The action is buttery smooth, and is so much more satisfying (and functional) to use.

BONUS PRO TIPS:

Make sure your Skeletool is clean and dry with NO lubricant before firing away. You WANT metal on metal, and lots of heat. This "grinding" of the joints will ultimately create an ultra smooth action when its all said and done.

Don't skimp on the lubricant. No WD40, 3 in 1 oil or PB Blaster. Get Tri-Flow (it's what locksmiths use). It is clean and does an excellent job keeping joints lubricated for long periods of time.

When firing away, move the reciprocating saw slowly forward and backward to engage the full range of motion on the Skeletool pivot you are breaking in.

Now, if Leatherman would provide a deep pocket carry clip, I would have the ultimate Skeletool. :)
