Visiting in Oct.

So, my family and I are visiting in October for a week. We are staying in Nuevo Nayarit at an AI (not my choice, my family really wanted to do this over an Airbnb). We have rented a car several times in Mexico and were thinking about doing it instead of having to Uber or take a bus to the city. Would it be worth it? We plan on going to the city at least 3 times minimum on our trip.

Also, we were thinking about spending a night in Guadalajara and going for a day before driving back. Does anyone know of any car rental companies that would allow us to drive there? When I rented my car in Cancun, they had no problem with us driving to Merida. I looked at one of the local companies recommended on this board and they said you can’t drive further than 200km from their office in Bucerías.

Also, how is that drive? Would it be better to just take a bus or try to fly? We are somewhat experienced driving in MX and in city traffic, as we have drove around Monterrey, CDMX, and Cancun.
