recent accounting grad, getting laid off the same day my lease ends, looking to move to a new city. my background is in textile R&D. how should I approach the job search?

Advice

29yo in the US. in May I was informed that my office will be shut down in September, I was previously planning on moving about an hour away to a nearby city and just eating the commute until I get settled and find an entry into accounting, but that's obviously not an option now. I attended college while working full-time from 2023-24 and got my bachelors in accounting, but in doing that I didn't have much of an opportunity to land an internship, which seems to be the standard path into the field.

my career thus far has been in textile manufacturing on the R&D side of things, and I've done my best to spin that experience into something relevant to accounting. i've been applying for all kinds of positions (AR/AP clerk, accounting clerk, jr accountant, etc.) since I got the news in May, but I've gotten nothing out of this besides calls from recruiters who seem to forget about me the next day.

it's starting to get a little demoralizing. I've been applying for positions literally all over the US, because at this point I'll go anywhere, and no one seems interested in giving me a shot. i'm not shocked, I know the job market is pretty bleak at the moment, but I guess I'm just at a loss for what to do. I figured since accounting grads are allegedly "in demand" right now that i'd have an easier time getting an entry-level position, but it still seems like there isn't any way in for someone with my experience outside of making a lucky connection somehow.

anyways, I guess I'm looking for any positions I should be keeping an eye out for that I may have missed, suggestions for how to start networking more effectively, or honestly just general logistical/life advice on how to handle relocating without having an income secured. thanks :)
