Seeking Advice: N-400 Interview + Pending I-751 + Upcoming Move (Address Change Timing)
Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate some insights on my situation.
Back in February, I applied for my citizenship (N-400) under the 3-year rule, while my I-751 was still pending. On May 12th, USCIS scheduled my combo interview (I-751 + N-400) for June 26th. However, on June 16th, just 10 days before the interview, it was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.
A few days ago, they rescheduled it for August 21st. Here’s where things get complicated: • My lease ends on August 3rd, and my husband and I will temporarily be staying with my mother-in-law (she lives within the same USCIS field office jurisdiction). • I haven’t updated my address yet because I was afraid USCIS would automatically cancel my interview again, even though I’m still in the same field office area. • In early September, we are planning to move to a different state. • The field office handling my case does not do same-day oath ceremonies, and based on what I’ve seen, the oath is typically scheduled about a month later.
My questions: • Should I tell the officer at the interview that I’m moving to a different state right after the interview? • Will I face any issues for not updating my address earlier? Since we’re required to update address change within 10 days of moving; • When exactly should I update my address so the oath ceremony can be scheduled in the new state? • Has anyone gone through something similar? What was your experience?
Any advice or personal experience would be very helpful! Thank you in advance!
