Double Majoring in Business and Comparative Literature
Hi, I'm a rising sophomore at a state school in Oregon, and I'm nearing the decision to declare a second major in Comparative Literature (currently Business Admin).
I'm adding the major because:
- I can still graduate on time
- I took a COLT class and it was my favorite all year
- Every year since 6th grade, I've always found a deeper connection to English/Writing classes and teachers compared to any other subject, and I want to pursue it further in college.
- I want to become better at learning, reading, and writing, and dedicate myself to an academic field of study. There's also just a lot of skills to gain from the coursework and instruction.
- I love learning about new cultures (i travel solo abroad)
- I’m attending college for free through grants and scholarships. I want to make the most of my education, considering that, and more barriers to higher education
For anyone already involved in the humanities, could you give me any advice? I'm well-prepared in terms of business, but I want to know if there's anything I can do to further prepare myself for this major.
I would also appreciate input from Business majors who are also pairing their degree with a field of study completely different from Business.
