Why do I sympathize with Love but not Joe?

I have theories but I figured this would be an interesting topic of discussion. I feel like I often see people either argue "Love did terrible things too, she's also a monster" or people who will defend her actions no matter what.

In reality, yes they were both terrible people lol. That's a given. They both had terrible childhoods, they were both obsessive stalkers, they were both cold blooded killers.

But I will SAY... in an irrational way, I really did feel for Love and sympathize with her. Even though I knew she didn't deserve a happy ending I was still secretly was kinda rooting for her. I was especially hoping that she would come out on top when it came to Joe.

I never really felt this way about Joe. Maybe like the first few episodes of S1 I sympathize with him, but by the time he killed Peach I was no, straight to jail for this guy lol. And every season I was rooting against him and waiting for him to get his comeuppance.

Obviously these feelings aren't grounded in reality because they're both awful on paper lol, but in terms of their CHARACTERS, I know I'm not alone in feeling this way. So why do you think Love is a more sympathetic character to viewers in a way Joe wasn't?
