Chasing a Job That Might Not Come

Hi everyone,
I recently did a taster day with Marks & Spencer through the King’s Trust “Get Into Hospitality” programme, passed the interview, and now I’m set to start a 4-week unpaid work placement in their café.

I was really happy at first to be chosen, but now I’m having mixed feelings. It’s a month of work for free, with only maybe a job at the end — they say you might get offered a contract if you do well, but nothing is guaranteed.

I keep wondering if I’m being taken for a ride or if this could actually lead somewhere.

Has anyone else done one of these placements? Did it lead to a paid job or contract? Is it worth sticking it out?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been through this or has thoughts on it..
