MEC3416 - Do I need to buy a new laptop?

Hi guys, I’m considering enrolling in MEC3416: Machine design next semester. I can see in the handbook there is some CAD work. With this in mind, for those who have done it, can you get away with just using the studio computers?

I only have a 2017 MacBook Air and can’t upgrade until the end of this year, at minimum.
