Question about loot

So I've been doing lfr for a little bit now, and I just realized that one piece of gear I got, was from a raid on normal difficulity. I've only ever did this particular raid, on LFR difficulty. I have no idea how I could have obtained it?

Does the great valut give you normal raid level gear or? Because that's the only thing I could possibly think of.
