AC System - Issue
I have 5 ton R-22 split system with air handler in the attic. Unit is 20 years old and compressor has just died, it is shorted, breaker tripping.
I’ve had a spare used 5 ton 410a condensing unit from a fried. And a friend of mine has replaced my non working R-22 condenser with a 5 ton 410a condenser.
I am not in HVAC field but i know how to use Google.
Condensing unit (410a) that he hooked up, he charged with 407C and it is running now. Seems to be working and maintaining temp on these very hot days. But i am reading now how everything works and i see there is multiple issues with this setup.
I know that TXV valve is not replaced, so i am assuming it is R22 TXV.
Basically i have 410a condensing unit, with r22 TXV, and charged with 407c.
What would be the best way to fix this, if possible at all?
Can I just change R22 TXV valve with 410a TXV and charge it with 410a?
Is the 410a condensing unit now damaged as its been running for the past two days on 407c?
