Worth getting a CB set up while I study for my license?

I’m working on getting my Technician license right now (thank you HamStudy), but am pretty impatient to start fiddling with transmission and the technical aspects of radio. Is it worth getting a mediocre CB rig while I wait, mainly to fiddle with antenna setups and see what I can do? I also am very excited by the idea of homebrew ham stations but am starting from pretty much no knowledge, and was thinking this might be a way to get to know the technology hands-on.

Thoughts? Worth doing, or do the skills/knowledge not translate enough to make it worthwhile?
